We know, you like the “rough and ready” feel of your truck. That’s part of the appeal of owning a pickup. But that doesn’t mean you don’t take pride in ensuring the detailing and cleaning are done regularly. In our experience, most truck owners enjoy the pride of ownership that means DIY detailing and cleaning. We’ve got some great tips to help keep your truck looking its rough and ready best all year.
Nail Polish for Small Paint Imperfections
Before you panic because nail polish doesn’t sound very rough and ready, remember, you can do this in the privacy of your garage. No one has to know that you found a nail polish shade to match your truck’s paint and used that instead of actual touch up paint. Once you’ve done the clear top coat and a wax application, no one will know the difference!
Toothpaste Your Headlights
This one might sound almost as crazy as using nail polish to fix small paint issues, but it works. Use a clean rag to apply toothpaste – the whitening kind works particularly well. Rinse it with clean water and voila! Clear headlights! You can keep this going all year long by adding an application of furniture polish or car wax with UV protection.
Sticky Goo is No Match for a Wet Newspaper
Pine pitch or sticker remnants can really ruin the clarity of a windshield. Instead of spending hours trying to scrape it off, you can get rid of it in just 10-minutes. Wet down a newspaper you’ve finished reading with warm water. Hold it on the sticky spot for 10-minutes and you’ll find it easily wipes away.
