In the summer, you may use your pickup for 4x4 excursions or getting supplies from the home supply store. Or maybe both. You might have your kids or family with you on some of these trips. Even though you bring your pickup into our Seattle techs at Sunset Truck, emergencies can happen. We want you and your family to be safe every time you set out in your truck. Having an emergency kit can make all the difference.
Ability to Jump Start Your Truck
Whether you hit the 4x4 trail hard or left your lights on while you gathered supplies at the home store, it’s possible you’ll go to start your truck and nothing will happen. Jumper cables, and the ability to use them, can be helpful in this situation. But what if that 4x4 trail is a bit remote and there are no other people around? A portable battery charger will rescue you in less time than it takes to phone for help.
Wellness and Comfort Items
This time of year, having a blanket stowed in your emergency kit might seem frivolous, but it’s not. Nights can still get chilly and if you need to wait and conserve gas, it can be helpful to have one to protect you from the cool air. Blankets are also good for use while waiting for help. Be sure you’re safe and can still be seen. Then spread out the blanket and sit there to wait rather than in the cramped truck cab. Splinters and cuts are almost inevitable with an active life. Having an emergency first aide kit in your pickup is the best way to deal with these situations. Included in it you should have OTC pain mediation, Band-Aides and rubbing alcohol. Lastly, a roll of duct tape. You never know when you might be able to use it.
From all of us at Sunset Truck, have a safe and happy summer. Don’t forget to come see us just outside Seattle for all your truck service and maintenance needs.
